ARTISAN spent two years pursuing colours once considered unattainable on stainless steel. In traditional Takaoka metalcraft, “colouring through corrosion”—immersing copper or brass in special solutions to oxidise and create colour—doesn’t apply to stainless steel because it resists corrosion.

Through the fusion of Tsubame’s stainless-steel technology and Takaoka’s patination techniques, and after countless prototypes and failures, ARTISAN developed a groundbreaking method to realise beautiful, natural colour on stainless steel.
